Franklin International, a leading manufacturer of adhesives, coatings, and sealants is currently seeking a Recruiter. This position is responsible for recruiting and retention of our hourly labor force, and will also serve as a human resources generalist and first point of contact for this subsection of our workforce. The majority of this group works in the production areas. Job titles for which you would be responsible include machine operator, batch operator, warehouse, skilled trades (maintenance), and a variety of other jobs.  You need to be comfortable working on the factory floor to be successful in this role. You will also support administration of other HR programs as needed. Good communication skills (oral, print, and on-line) with all levels of employees are absolutely critical to this position. 

We need someone not only to recruit, but to lead us in finding and implementing improved alternatives for our recruiting approach, methods and tools (like Applicant Tracking System, etc.) You will guide us into being better participants in social media and alternative job boards; and will help make our application process a great experience on a smartphone.

Fundamental Job Tasks

Recruiting Tasks

  • Ensures adequate manufacturing/warehouse and office hourly staffing by assessing manager needs, executing the recruiting process and following up with candidates and managers. 
  • Writes and posts ads, internally, on websites, social media, print and alternative sources.
  • Performs candidate screening including interviews, testing, background checks/confirmations, and drug tests.
  • Coordinates interviews and makes recommendations for hiring decisions for part-time and full-time manufacturing/warehouse, and maintenance positions.
  • Coordinates approvals and communicates offer letters.
  • Stays updated on and develops new approaches to the recruitment process to find and attract qualified and diverse candidates for open positions and future opportunities through the most fruitful, relevant and valuable (yet cost effective) resources.
  • Makes sure of outstanding candidate experiences throughout the interview, offer, and onboarding process.
  • Positively represents HR and Franklin by finding opportunities for and coordinating recruitment events.
  • Responsible for the applicant and requisition tracking system.
  • May coordinate the temporary agency workforce.

 Generalist Tasks

  • Maintains high levels of customer (employees and recruits) satisfaction as the first point of contact for human resource questions for our hourly workforce.
  • Answers HR questions based on law, contract and/or policy, and in ways which are consistent with Franklin’s Vision, Values and Goals. Assesses situations outside your areas of expertise and properly refers issues to the appropriate resource.
  • Facilitates the HR portion of new hire orientation.
  • Coordinates special events, such as the annual Giving Campaign, blood drives, Clippers tickets, etc.
  • Stays current and well-versed on applicable laws and policies.
  • Provides follow-up service to ensure problem resolution.
  • Assists our social media efforts for current and prospective employees. 

Other Job Tasks (Non-essential)

Serves as back up to other HR staff and will be assigned specific areas of the group’s shared administrative responsibilities.  Uses and helps to maintain various databases and websites.

Knowledge and Skills

A minimum of a Bachelor Degree in Human Resources preferred, with 3 to 6 years of HR and recruiting experience; or a BS in another field with 5 to 8 years of HR and recruiting experience. Hourly manufacturing recruiting experience is a plus.  Basic computer and Microsoft Office proficiency is required; experience with HRIS programs and use of applicant tracking systems is preferred. Must be extremely well organized and have outstanding writing and grammar skills. Incumbent must be able to work confidentially with sensitive information and be able to interact professionally with a variety of personalities in a variety of situations. PHR or SHRM-CP certifications are a plus.
